On the last day of January I was delighted to host the Premier as we headed out to show off the Hillarys Electorate.

This is the second time Premier Cook has visited our community in just four months!

We started our morning at the beautiful Mullaloo Beach and met up with the leadership team of the Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club.

Tony Martin had the idea to establish the club 63 years ago when the population of the area was just around 2000.

Since then, it has grown to be an enduring pillar of our community, educating successive generations of locals on water safety.

We also had a great chat with club member and community campaigner Kim Allen who is a strong advocate for our beaches.

Next, we were off to Westfield Whitford City Shopping Centre.

We dropped by Café Collective, a small business that provides a home for WA creatives to showcase and sell their wares.

We often buy items from here to include in the raffle hampers we provide many community organisations!

I was surprised at the Premier’s next purchase which was a Skateboard from Beyond Skate – which has its own indoor skatepark.

We weren’t quite brave enough to tempt fate by having a crack on the boards in front of the cameras however!

The shop manager was so friendly and also entertained us by showing some very cringey videos of his skating fails!

The Premier was soon asking for a coffee pit-stop, so we stopped at the fantastic Prontissimo Coffee Shop and had a good chat with some locals.

I definitely do recommend stopping by to discover their fantastic range of fresh delivered Italian cuisine and sweets!

Next up was a trip into Whitfords Brewing Company or as the locals call it ‘WBC’.

WBC is an award-winning state-of-the-art brew pub in Perth’s Northern suburbs with its own distinct style, as designed by Master Brewer Ken Arrowsmith.

The Premier and I practiced pulling pints – and I’m afraid to report that my glass had a little too much froth at the end!

The Premiers was very well poured however!

Our last visit for the morning was to the newly opened Hillarys Beach Club. It truly is a coastal haven with beautiful décor and a view of the ocean to match! Introducing ourselves to the customers, it was quite funny to keep meeting parents who were enjoying a tipple after just having dropped their kid for the first day of school.

I wish the owners Nikki and Ryan Esqulant all the best with their new establishment – but also don’t think they will need any luck as it’s such a fantastic operation.
