We had a fantastic turnout at the Hillarys Senior Citizens Strategy Session on 4 August 2022.
Over 80 local seniors joined Kyle McGinn MLC and I to lead the discussion about better targeting WA State Government services for older Western Australians.
Kyle is the Parliamentary Secretary for the Minister for Seniors and Ageing, Don Punch MLA.
He’s been travelling the state holding consultation sessions with various communities to help inform the new 10-year Seniors Strategy for WA.
Some of the topics that were discussed at the Hillarys session included: more accessible public transport, safe pedestrian options, stamping out ageism, ensuring online communication remains a choice and better access to health and exercise opportunities.
We were able to distribute free Rapid Antigen Tests and printed copies of the 2022 WA Seniors Card Discount Directory to attendees.
Thanks to everyone for coming along – I’m looking forward to the release of the 10 year strategy soon!
