The coastal shared path from Hillarys to Mullaloo is now underway!

A five-kilometre-long shared path from Hillarys Boat Harbour to North Mullaloo has commenced construction.
The works form part of the $6.9 million State Government funded Hillarys Cycle Network Expansion project.
Following the recent completion of the Hepburn Avenue shared path.
The State Government is committed to making active travel a safe, convenient and widely accepted mode of transport in WA.

Better walking, wheeling and riding connections along Perth’s north-western coast will soon be a reality, with works commencing to significantly improve the shared path linking Hillarys Boat Harbour to North Mullaloo.

The major upgrades will see a significant uplift to the quality of the five-kilometre-long path which connects Hillarys Boat Harbour to Westview Boulevard via Whitfords Avenue and Northshore Drive.

The upgraded path will improve access to Pinnaroo Point, Whitfords Beach, Mullaloo Beach and surrounding parklands, offering coastal views and recreational opportunities.

The significant improvement to the five-kilometre section will be followed by major upgrades to the 2.6km long shared path between Ocean Reef Marina and Burns Beach.

Delivered as part of the $6.9 million State Government funded Hillarys Cycle Network Expansion, the project has already provided 2.6-kilometres of new shared path along Hepburn Avenue.

Once complete it will provide more than 10-kilometres of new and upgraded active travel infrastructure in the area.

Since 2017, the State Government has invested or allocated more than $600 million towards expanding the state’s active transport network and is committed to making active travel more convenient and accessible throughout Western Australia.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said “Since 2017, we have invested or allocated more $600 million to expand and improve active transport infrastructure across the state, making it easier and safer than ever before for people to walk, wheel or ride around our suburbs.”

Hillarys MLA Caitlin Collins said “This is another exciting milestone for our Hillarys Cycle Network Expansion project and follows the completion of the Hepburn Avenue Shared Path earlier this year. It’s a spectacular 5-kilometre stretch from Hillarys Boat Harbour to North Mullaloo, so it’s fantastic the current path will be upgraded by the end of the year which will entice more Western Australians to enjoy this beautiful part of our coastline.”
