On the 10th and the 21st of March I was delighted to host two Seniors Cyber Security Forums for senior citizens in the Hillarys Electorate.

The Forums featured presentations by Dr David Cook, from the Australian Computer Society. Dr Cook has thoroughly researched tactics used by hackers and internet criminals to commit fraud and steal identity data – especially those used against older computer users.

Attendees learnt some valuable skills on how to identify hacking attempts and to keep their data and bank details safe.

Over 150 residents attended the forums which were generously hosted by the Northshore Tavern. The team at the Northshore put on an amazing morning tea of sandwiches, biccies, cakes and tea & coffee.

We were also able to make materials available from Seniors Card WA to alert residents about the wide range of concessions, subsidies and security assistance options available to those with a WA Seniors Card.

Thanks to all the residents who came down to the forums – it was great to meet you all and chat all things Hillarys!
